
WAUTOMA, Wis (WAUH)-Oshkosh Police have a 23-year-old Omro man in custody suspected of shooting a teen near the UW-Oshkosh campus Saturday night.
Officers were working in the area of McKinley Avenue and John Street during an unsanctioned pub crawl when they heard gunfire. The victim, a 17-year-old Oshkosh resident was taken to a local hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
Oshkosh Police, Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies, UW-Oshkosh Police, State Troopers, a drone and multiple K-9s conducted an extensive search. Within 50 minutes of the shooting the suspect was located trying to the leave the area in a vehicle.
A high-risk traffic stop at Jackson Street and Irving Avenue led to the Omro man being taken into custody. The investigation remains active, and criminal charges are pending.
