RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- The Ripon Common Council last night selected Donahue & Associates of Sheboygan for engineering services for a pilot well and the municipal well #10 development project.
Donahue and MSA were the two finalists of six that submitted proposals for the project. City Administrator Adam Sonntag told the Council both firms’ proposals were close, but Donahue’s was more complete.
The city has done a lot of work with MSA, but Donahue specializes in this type of work. Sonntag says well #10 will be a major project for the city costing anywhere from $2 million to $4 million depending on what kind of treatment is needed for the water that is coming from it.
Both firms gave lengthy presentations to the Council last evening with Council members asking questions about PFAs, radon and other things that can affect drinking water. Funding for the project could include a Safe Drinking Water Loan, Community Development Block Grant Public Facilities money and other sources.
The well will be located on the city’s south side. Ripon currently has four active wells. Donahue & Associates will come back to the Common Council with proposed costs for engineering services for the pilot well and the municipal well #10 development project.
