RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials tell us a 69-year-old Fond du Lac man suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries after striking a tree with his snowmobile Monday afternoon.
It happened on a snowmobile trail east of the intersection of County Highway Y and Vielbig Road in the Town of Oakfield. The man called the county’s communication center at 12:45 pm.
Oakfield Fire Department used their UTV to locate and transport the man back to the roadway. Flight for Life flew him to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah.
An investigation determined the man was riding on the snowmobile trail when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and his sled struck a tree. He was thrown approximately 30 feet from the snowmobile. He was wearing a helmet and chest protector. Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash. The DNR assisted at the scene.
