RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- Luke Dretske has announced he is seeking election to the Ripon Common Council this spring.
By trade he is a lawyer, but he has also served on the Berlin Common Council, as a Green Lake County Supervisor, and currently serves on Ripon’s Plan Commission. He lives in Ripon’s 4th Aldermanic District and is seeking the seat on the Council that Doug Iverson currently occupies.
Dretske says the Council needs some young blood on it and someone who cares about the issues of young families. He says that means affordability, lowering taxes, and he wants to repeal the city’s wheel tax.
He says the city’s mill rate has gone up each year since the incumbent took office in 2022. Dretske attributes that to the city taking on new debt with its various projects. He’d also like to see more single-family homes developed to attract younger families he says want to live the American Dream of owning their own home.
