Reindeer on the Square changes location for Saturday
Listen:
OSHKOSH, WI—(WISS)— Oshkosh didn’t get a holiday parade this year due to frigid temperatures on parade day. But Downtown Oshkosh is determined to bring holiday cheer to Main Street this Saturday. Highs are expected in the single digits Saturday and Sunday. So, The annual Reindeer in the Square celebration will be moved from the Opera House Square to the Gibson Social Club.
“I, personally, am very relieved to have a warm location to be available for people that come out,” said Jessica Lomena with Downtown Oshkosh.
Lomena said there will be indoor and outdoor activities for participants. The event features live reindeer, children’s music by Randy Peterson, cocoa and cookies, letter writing to Santa, and book giveaways from the Oshkosh Public Library while supplies last.
“We’ll have the best of both worlds. Outside of the Gibson in the parking lot area, we will still have Reindeer that people will be able to see and take pictures in front of,” said Lomena.
One more exciting addition to Reindeer at the Gibson – Santa will be there to take pictures with the kids!
Reindeer on the Square is part of Downtown Oshkosh’s seasonal programming that supports local businesses and enhances the downtown experience during the holidays. The event aligns with Downtown Oshkosh Inc.’s mission to promote the positive attributes of Downtown Oshkosh and encourage recruitment and retention of diverse businesses that foster continued economic growth within the district.
The event is free and will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Gibson Social Club.
