RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- Award-winning duo Switchback, featuring the talents of Brian FitzGerald and Martin McCormack, will bring their celebrated blend of “American Roots & Celtic Soul” back to the Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake, WI, for two performances of their beloved holiday show, “A Celtic Christmas,” on Saturday, December 13, 2025.

Switchback has toured the world for over two decades, captivating audiences with their original music, authentic Celtic tunes, and a healthy dose of humor. This special Christmas concert will feature a wonderful wintry mix of holiday favorites, traditional Irish music, and a selection of songs from the duo’s catalog of over 300 original tunes.

A Holiday Celebration for All Ages

Switchback’s holiday shows are known for their high-energy audience involvement, encouraging sing-alongs with well-known classics such as “Jingle Bells,” “Away in the Manger,” “Up on the Housetop,” “Oh Holy Night,” and “Frosty the Snowman.” The duo’s holiday album, A Very Switchback Christmas (2006), features these songs and their classic version of “Silent Night,” which includes an extra verse sung in Gaelic.  Beyond the music, the show is filled with the duo’s engaging stories from their travels and a shared love of comedy, making for a truly down-home, community-focused experience.

American Roots & Celtic Soul

Brian FitzGerald (mandolin, guitar) and Martin McCormack (guitar, bass, vocals) have earned comparisons to famous duos like the Louvin Brothers, the Everly Brothers, and Simon and Garfunkel for their stunning vocal harmonies.  Music Connection Magazine praised the act, stating: “The words ‘American Roots & Celtic Soul’ only begin to describe this unusual act, whose vocal prowess is as pure as it is unique…there is no denying the stunning vocal blends that are achieved by this duo.” Their Irish music is highly respected, drawing praise from traditional masters such as Matt Malloy of The Chieftains. Simultaneously, their American roots music has garnered attention from Grammy Award-winning producer Lloyd Maines, who has produced three of their albums and regards Switchback as one of the most important acts playing Americana music today.
