RIPON, Wis. (WRPN) – The Thrasher Opera House is thrilled to announce a captivating evening with Dave Simonett, the renowned lead singer, guitarist, and primary songwriter for the beloved roots band, Trampled By Turtles.
Simonett will perform on the historic Thrasher stage on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. Showcasing his distinctive voice and a shining collection of new solo material from his album “Red Tail.”
For almost two decades, Simonett has been a cornerstone of the folk and roots music scene with Trampled By Turtles, and he also fronts the Americana-infused indie rock band, Dead Man Winter. Now, he boldly steps forward under his own name with “Red Tail,” offering a sound that is both familiar and freshly introspective.
Tickets are $40 and are available at Thrasher Opera House website, or by calling 920-294-4279.
While Simonett’s previous work with Dead Man Winter was a deeply personal, cathartic experience, “Red Tail” sees him shifting focus. He allows the conversational and poetic style in which he writes to take center stage, preferring to allow listeners to develop their own interpretations of the songs. His music on “Red Tail” is deeply inspired by the spacious and stark Northern woods of Minnesota, his home state.
Drawing heavily from the outdoors, Simonett uses light, weather, and vivid imagery to paint introspective, cinematic scenes that invite the audience to lose themselves in the narrative. Fans can expect a night of powerfully resonant, emotionally rich music that highlights the masterful songwriting that has defined his career.
Shows are supported by The Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, the Wisconsin Arts Board, and the National Endowment for the Arts
