Fatal Fire in Dodge County

RIPON, Wis. (WRPN) – Dodge County Sheriff’s officials tell us a 48-year-old Lomira woman died following a fire at a multi-unit apartment building on County Road Y in the town of Lomira late Saturday night.

The Knowles Fire Department immediately responded to the scene. Three residents were evacuated from the building. Two were not hurt, but Brandi Koelsch was taken to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, where she died. One firefighter suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The State Fire Marshal was contacted, and specials agents with the state’s Department of Justice responded to assist the Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.

14 fire departments responded to the fire. Brownsville First Responders and Mayville EMS also reported to the scene. The time of the fire call was 11:10 p.m. Saturday.
