RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials tell us a 44-year-old Waupun man was injured when he fell 12 to 14 feet from a tree stand while deer hunting Thursday.

A family member called the Sheriff’s Communication Center at 3:44 pm reporting the hunter had regained consciousness on the ground with facial injuries. The family member provided a general location of a DNR public hunting area on Towne Road, north of Highway 151, in the Town of Oakfield.

The dispatch center was eventually able to establish direct contact with the injured hunter, which helped pinpoint his location. Deputies located the hunter, and the Oakfield Fire Department used a UTV to transport him off the property to a parking area.

Lifestar Ambulance took him to a local hospital for treatment of what appeared to be minor injuries. He was not wearing a tree stand safety harness at the time of the fall.
