WAUTOMA, Wis. (WAUH) – Waushara County Sheriff’s officials say a 43-year-old man from Hancock, Wis. died last Friday when his car was struck by a semi-truck.

The accident happened on 5th Avenue at Archer Avenue in the town of Plainfield. The investigation found Christopher Burns was heading east in his car on Archer Avenue approaching 5th Avenue and failed to stop at the stop sign.

The semi was traveling south on 5th Avenue and struck the car. The semi driver tried to avoid the collision, and in doing so, the semi overturned onto its side.

The County Medical Examiner pronounced Burns dead at the scene following life-saving efforts by Plainfield Fire Department and Rescue and Waushara EMS. The semi-driver wasn’t injured.
