WAUTOMA, Wis (WAUH)- The 28-year-old Fremont man suspected of killing his parents in their Wolf River home won’t be able to withdraw his no contest pleas.

Erik Metzig is charged with the March 2023 murders of David and Jan Metzig. His parents were owners of the Union Star Cheese Factory.

During a hearing in Winnebago County Court Monday Judge Michael Gibbs found Erik Metzig made the pleas to both counts of first-degree intentional homicide last year “Knowingly, voluntarily, and intelligently.” The court also found alleged new evidence not credible and denied the motion to withdraw the pleas.

In February a motion was made to withdraw the pleas. Metzig claimed he had been the victim of sexual abuse and that is the reason he killed his parents.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for October 17th.
